Haryana has been growing industrially and commercially for over a decade now, with Gurgaon ever expanding in terms of more and more corporate offices and industries setting up shop there. As Gurgaon is increasingly becoming crammed up by the day, corporates have started moving in a little deeper into Haryana.
It looks like we are not the only ones who noticed the great prospects of growth in Haryana. Wang Jianlin, who is the richest man in China, is looking at investing $10 billion to set up an industrial park in Kharkhoda in Sonipat. Wang is also the Chairman of the Dalian Wanda group, which is apparently the largest real estate developer in China. The industrial park, the first phase of which will span across an area of approximately 13 sq. kms, will be called “Wanda Industrial New City”.
As per a Haryana Government press release, Wanda will be responsible for investing in the project’s initial infrastructure. In addition, it would attract other international and Chinese industrial, tourism and residential companies to operate in the park.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal met Wang on Friday during hist visit to Beijing. A final agreement will be signed once both the parties reach a consensus on the terms. A prelim agreement was signed and the announcement was made.
Wang Jianlin leads in the field of real estate and entertainment, and is the owner of 21.57 million square metres of investment property, 134 Wanda Shopping Plazas, 82 luxury hotels, 213 cinemas, 99 department stores, in addition to 54 karaoke centres around China.
This is certainly being looked at as a successful strategic move towards further industrial development of Haryana. These are moves that generate employment and opportunities for the local mass, and in a way, enhance the living standards of the adjoining areas. These efforts, with time, also blossom into remarkable strategic achievements, which are remembered for years to come.
